The Boston Red Sox chose me to sing The National Anthem at Saturday night's game against The Texas Rangers. Since Lance Armstrong was running The Boston Marathon on Monday, he was there to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. After taking some pictures with him and, of course, Wally, I readied myself to sing what is arguably one of the most vocally challenging songs there is. Since I have always felt that the the anthem stands on its own I chose to do a straight up acapella version of The Star Spangled Banner and put my heart and soul into it. It was nerve wracking to say the least looking out over Red Sox Nation at 36,000 fans as I prayed to God that I would start out on the right note. The big fella seemed to be looking down on me that night however and, to use a hackneyed term, I dare say I knocked it out of the park. There are no words to describe the feeling of singing our National Anthem at Fenway Park as the sun sets on a beautiful New England evening in late April and receiving thunderous applause from so many in my own home town. As if the evening weren't perfect enough, the Sox went on to beat The Rangers in dramatic fashion after Manny crushed a two-run homer in the 8th inning that probably still hasn't come down on Landsdowne Street and the Bruins won game 6 against the Montreal Canadiens in their own playoff berth.

We are in the process of posting pictures and video of the event on my space so stay tuned and stay healthy!

Many thanks to The Boston Red Sox organization for allowing me to live a dream, Phil Santoro for capturing it all on video and Kerry Brett Photography for taking some kick ass photos!

Highlights From The St. Patty's Day Show

The St. Patty's Day shows at the Tsongas Arena went off without a hitch. One of the high points of the show was when the man himself, Ken Casey, stepped in to sing "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" along with Danny Gallagher. Steve Latt played the banjo and mandolin and Clara Kebabian played the fiddle and oboe. Many thanks to all the friends and family who made it out to
Lowell. We came together in the studio to record some cover tunes as well as a few of my latest originals. Steve Lat -the one man wrecking crew- brought along his fiddle, pedal steel guitar, banjo and mandolin and Betty Widerski also tore it up on the fiddle. Geoff Chase did the recording and sound. We managed to get about 10 tracks put down. All in all, not a bad day's work. We'll be mixing them soon and releasing the finished product.
